If only our last-minute appearances could look as put-together as Kate Middleton's.
The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out with Prince William today to attend the launch of the National Emergencies Trust in London, a private charity that will provide emergency responses for natural disasters in the U.K., such as the Grenfell Tower fire.
Although the Duke of Cambridge was originally slated to attend solo, his wife was added to the schedule just this week.
Duchess Kate donned a royal blue Emilia Wickstead dress, accented with a thick belt at the waist, which paired nicely with her poppy brooch, black patent Jimmy Choo pumps, and crocodile Aspinal of London clutch.
However, her sapphire earrings, which once belonged to late mother-in-law Princess Diana, were the subtle highlight of her look.
The Duke of Cambridge first gave Kate the sentimental jewels in 2011, the year they married. "Now that they're married, William wanted her to have some of his mother's favorite pieces," a source told Daily Mail at the time.
The earrings match the engagement ring William gave Kate, which also belonged to his mother; it features a large center sapphire surrounded by smaller diamonds.
Princess Diana originally wore the earrings as studs, although she was later seen wearing a version with two sets of the stone clusters on each ear. The pieces were ultimately remodeled for Kate, who wears them in a dangling design.
Kate has stepped out wearing the precious jewels multiple times over the years. In January, she wore them with a tartan Alexander McQueen look during a trip to Scotland.
